On 1 December 2004, World Aids Day, Takalani Sesame presented a one hour special show called "Talk to Me".  This show featured diverse families grappling with communicating with children about HIV and AIDS.  The special achieved world wide recognition and a number of prestigious international awards :

• Gold Plaque Hugo Award, Chicago International Film Festival
• Gold Award for excellence in modern communication, World Media Festival
• Peabody Award
• Rose D'Or Social Awareness Award
• Cine golden Eagle Award.
